Use the Site Search, below, to find pages on this website containing specific words or combinations of words. Search results will open a new window and display a weighted list of matching documents, with better matches shown first. Each item listed provides a link to a matching document.
Here are some tips that will assist you in making effective searches:
Searches are not case sensitive, so a search for Kwajalein will provide the same results as searches for kwajalein and KWAJALEIN.
To search for a specific word, simply type the word into the search engine and depress the "Search" button. For example, if you are looking for information on MCAAF Newport, you would enter newport into the search engine and receive results with pages having the word newport on them. This type of search is also excellent when looking for names. For example, if you were looking for information on Lieutenant Colonel George W. Nevils, you would enter nevils into the search engine and receive results with pages having the name "nevils" on them. This type of search is not effective if you are looking for information on "aircraft," as the word "aircraft" appears on virtually every page of this website.
To search for combinations of words, enter the series of words into the search engine preceded and followed by double-quotation marks (" "). For example, if you are looking for information on the Squadron's aircraft you would enter "squadron aircraft". This would provide results of pages only where the words "squadron" and "aircraft" appear next to each other on this website.
To ensure that a specific word is always included in your search topic, place the plus (+) symbol before the word in the search box. Conversely, to always exclude a word in your search topic, place the minus (-) symbol before the word you wish to exclude in the search box.
If you are uncertain as to the exact spelling of a word or name a 'wild-card' character (*) may be used. For example, if you are looking for information on Wotje Atoll, but are uncertain as to the exact spelling, you would enter wot* into the search engine. This will provide results of pages on this website containing all words that begin with "wot."
Here are three additional ways you can search this website:
text:text - Finds pages that contain the specified text in the body of the document. By way of comparison, searches without the "text:" attribute will scan the URL, title, links, and META tags as well as the document body.
title:text - Finds pages that contain the specified word or phrase in the page title (which appears in the title bar of most browsers). The search title:PBJ would find pages with "PBJ" in the title.
url:text - Finds pages with a specific word or phrase in the URL. Use url:awards to find all pages on this website that have the word "awards" within the URL (website address).
